I just finished the 3 missions to go inside Augury rock and fight doppleganger.
After beating doppleganger I got 1000xp and no shield or sword for a mission complete.
I also did not get any skill points.
I was under the impression that this was a mission and doppleganger gives 50,000xp and you would get a sword and shield upon beating it.

Has this been changed recently?

Edit: Just to clarify. Not mission outpost with sword and shield graphic on map. The sword and sheild graphic in the middle of the screen appearing the first time you complete the mission. I'm sorry about the misunderstanding.

Update: My character is Tyrian, but has finished the Nahpui Quarter mission. From asking around it seems that is what is the reason. Would this mean beating doppleganger and getting the reward would not allow you to get the reward for 'closer to the stars'? as you may only be allowed to get one's reward?

The 1000 xp you recieved was for completing the bonus. There has never to my knowledge been a sword and shield for this mission (it is a mission), just the cinematic. Any skill points you recieve would be as a result of the 50k xp and none are given out seperatly for this mission. I don't know about you not getting the 50k xp though, it might be worth looking at your experiance bar in the hero screen and seeing if you think its advanced or not, if it hasn't I have heard of some people claiming not to have got the 50k because they ascended in factions first.

Fighting the doppleganger doesn't count as a mission. Did you see an "enter mission" button? No, its special.

Canthan chars which have done the "Closer to the Stars" mission don't get the bonus XP as far as I know as the chars already ascended (My Rit got nothing as well).

And no it's not a mission as your on your own and it generally takes less than a minute (plus it's not the same thing as beating Shiro which is where some people get confused

)

I've talked to a number of people in the area who are Weh No Su and they did not get 50,000xp or a sword and shield animation upon beating doppleganger.
My character is Tyrian, but is Weh No Su. It appears being Weh No Su will not get you 50,000xp or a mission completion.
I have read in that beating the doppleganger counts as a mission for your Protector of Tyria title. Does this mean Weh No Su will not be able to get that title?

Beating the Doppleganger is not a mission, hence no sword/shield and does not count towards the Protector title.

Did your Tyrian character complete Closer to the Stars before beating the doppleganger?

BTW, where ever you read "beating the doppleganger counts as a mission for your Protector of Tyria title" quit going there because you are getting wrong information.

Upon entering Augury Rock's explorable area pressing 'L' will bring up the mission objectives. I never said it was a mission outpost, just that it is a mission.

there are at least 2 other threads about this recently. I was the op of one of them. My experience would coincide with Tyrian born char completing Nahpui before dopple and getting no 50k. Please start a support ticket so we can get the official word on this and then get wiki updated if necessary.

Before you continue claiming that the doppelganger doesn't count for the Protector title, perhaps you should figure out how you can get 25 missions, not including the doppelganger. It has been widely known (except for you) that the doppelganger is considered a mission for the Protector title.

Also, I have a Canthan-born character who completed the Nahpui Quarter mission. When I beat the doppelganger, in about 20 seconds, I did not receive the 50,000 xp either. One additional factor to consider is that the secondary I chose to use against the doppelganger was different than what I had started with. I don't know if changing secondaries has any effect or not, but it might be something since in Tyria, you can't do this until after ascending. Just throwing that out there...

On my monk it says i have 1 extra mission/bonus..........hes ascended too....mabey same thing?

It is a mission but not like the others where you get the crossed sword with shield as it is the Mesa.This where you go to finally cleanse yourself and no there is nothing wrong with it as I did it agian with my Monk on Saturday night.This was my 3rd time and I even got 100xp.

Its been a while since I Ascended any toons, but I thought you only got 50k exp when you beat the doppleganger in a certain amount of time.

You do and I ascended mine I just went and did it for fun agian and got 100xp for doing it.

Age, thank you for confirming... not much. The question here is why aren't people getting the 50k xp reward. Doing it "again" with your monk cannot offer proof that "there is nothing wrong with it" as the 50k xp reward only applies to the first completion. The 100xp you get is simply for defeating a foe of level 20.

If your character is originated in Tyria and you beat your double under a certain time limit (50 seconds I think), without ever having done the Stars mission in Cantha, then it is mission and bonus and you get the 50,000 xp. If it's done over the time limit and you go back later to get the bonus (and it does count for the title), then you get the bonus, but no extra xp. If you go with your cantha toon and have already done the stars mission, you can still get the bonus, but not the xp.

A lot of people seem to be confused here. I hate to sound mean, but I'll sum everything up in points.
1. 50,000xp is for beating doppleganger the first time, not for beating him in under 50 seconds.
2. Beating doppleganger in under 50 seconds awards 1000 extra xp.
3. My character is Tyrian.
4. He is Weh No Su
5. Upon beating doppleganger the first time (I am a mesmer and beat him in seconds with backfire and spammable spells on my bar), I only recieved 1000xp (that is the under 50 seconds bonus)
6. Upon beating doppleganger, the first time, you will see a mission complete animation. I did not.

You are the one who is confused. I have beaten my double 5 times and a out of that 5, I've gotten the bonus 4 times. You only get the 50k xp as a bonus and the only animation I saw was the movie that you see after you beat the double, bonus or not. It doesn't change with getting the bonus.
